37901 visited the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for the 2009 diesel gala – its first foray to another railway purely for a gala appearance. It worked on the Saturday and Sunday of the gala and featured suitable headboards – different for each day.
‘The Hunt Saboteur’ featured on the first day; 901 seen at Levisham waiting for the single line to Pickering to become available.
Sunday saw ‘The North Yorkshireman’ make an appearance, seen here stood at Goathland in front of D6700.
37901 was taken off the train at Levisham to assist with shunting some wagons in the sidings there. The crossing keeper signals to the driver that he is clear of the points before reattaching to the front of D6700 on its return from Pickering.
50027 departs from Grosmont in style (nobody said it was in fine style – and I think the residents of Grosmont would agree given the localised pollution in evidence!) with the first train of the day during the final day of the gala.
26007 arrives into Goathland with the final train of the gala from Pickering to Grosmont.
